i’ve been drooling at this particular upper-medium range gaming rig, and wondered how on earth am i going to afford it. at RM3500.00 a pop, I’d better gather enough money for two of these and use it to get hitched instead. But then, the increase in the price of goods has made me to believe that getting married on the cheap is the way to go. See this ->
Bridegroom -> white coat at RM700.00 a piece
Bride -> wedding ensemble at RM1200.00 rental
Food -> RM2000.00 (inclusive of smuggled beer), another RM500.00 if budget runs amok
Chairs, tables, hall -> Balai Raya rental at RM700.00
Giveaways -> RM500.00
A good band -> RM750.00
Priest’s pocket money -> RM200.00
Total Cost = RM6550.00
If i were to ambik photo kat studio, that’s another RM1000.00 minimum for good grade wedding photos.
Grand total = RM7550.00
Right now, I’m trying my best to save at least RM300.00 a month (for the BLOODY computer of course, don’t get me wrong). at this hypothetical rate, it will take me at least 25 months to get married on the cheap (fine, i DO wanna get hitched). All cash payment and NO personal loans taken. 25 BLOODY MONTHS! I could get the bloody gaming rig for half the time.
But then, marriage is a technology that never gets outdated.
You forgot:
1. The Wedding Bands (Rings… not the ‘Kampung Love’ type)
2. Balai Raya deco… At least some flowers, a backdrop, and a wedding arch of some type. Later people walk in and ask “Eh, betul kah wedding dia kat Balai ni???”
3. Make-up… Your Bride might want some extra (or new) skin toners, concealers, powders, and lip gloss… Which girl doesn’t?
4. Hair-do… Tell me which Bride doesn’t want her hair done for her special day? “Sayang dandan rambut dirik kat rumah, ya?” and you’ll have one red hot steaming (i.e. angry) Bride…
5. Invitation Cards… Unless both you and your Bride are from the same kampung, I’m sure you have to send out SOME cards. Folded A4 paper with pen writing is a no-no.
6. Balai Ushers… At least one or two, to tell people where to go and where to sit.
7. Waiter/Waitresses… Unless it’s a Buffet style, someone has to move plates/dishware around. Bride and Groom mana boleh!?!
8. Liquor… Your Food budget includes XO or Hennesy kah? At least one bottle to toast from table to table…
9. Marriage Application… At least RM30 for JPN registration, passport photos, photocopies of Birth Certs and MyKads.
10. Pre-Marriage Course (for Church wedding lah)… There goes another RM40.
11. Wedding Photo Albums… Don’t forget you’ll need photo albums to store the 300+ odd photos. Orang tua-tua want to see hardcopies, you know!
12. Travel and Communication expenses… Driving around, calling people up, etc… What with petrol prices gone up. Fuh…
I’m sure there must be more expenses I can’t think of at the moment… If your Bride is from another kampung, town, city, state (ehem), or… country *cough*, it’s gonna cost more, of course.
Take it from your Big Bro (who’s currently planning a Wedding), it’s gonna take more than RM7,550 to have even a cheap wedding… Good luck! You’re gonna need it.

astaga… mahal juak mok kawin tok, i wonder how come when i ask around on how much they need to get married, they never tell me honestly… now i’m beginning to guess it would be around AT LEAST rm25000 and above… since wedding photos costs rm4000, clothes around rm3000 sewa saja, hotel dinner around rm4K-7K, invitation cards around rm1K, gettinghitchedband around rm5K, liquor around RM2K, travel expense around RM1K, hairdo RM500, makeup around RM500…
memang tidak kawin la saya ni… kerja kerajaan saja ni saya tak tau la macamana. kawin saja sudah saddled with debts, teringat cerita P.Ramli when the neighbour had to pinjam from chetty to pay for their wedding, then after kawin hanya bayar hutang saja. maybe i should have picked the computer instead.
